Recruitment
The Haird Motorsport team is on a high with their driver #115 Chris
Haird having secured the English National Points Championship title for
the second year in a row.
The team are now seeking the services of someone for the
forthcoming National Hot Rod World Championship and Spede Weekend at
Ipswich in Suffolk on 3 & 4 July.
This is a unique opportunity to join one of oval racings leading teams
at the biggest festival of short oval motor racing in Europe. The role
will include welcoming and entertaining guests (which will include a
smattering of VIPs, glitterati from racing, celebs, and various others
that somehow cannot be categorised), helping with refreshments (this
may/may not include creation of fancy cocktails), and generally being on
hand to assist promotionally, look good, and If you can put a wheel on,
re-fuel, or change a diff – wow – we’re impressed already!!
The ability to put up with/tolerate being part of one of the most
entertaining (often for all the wrong reasons) bunches of people in the
paddock is a pre-requisite!
This Website
After the World Championship Weekend on Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th of
July, this website will be having its long overdue refresh with loads of new
content, pictures, ways for you to be in touch, a competition or two, and
Haird Motorsport on social networking sites? You never know!
Maxwell X2
With airline bookings, sea passages arranged, transporters booked, and many
hours on the road - Friday the 18th of June will see a National
Hot Rod onslaught on the Northampton International Raceway for testing ahead
of the Thunder 500 at Foxhall Stadium Ipswich the next day on Saturday 19th
of June. Drivers to test will include Terry Maxwell in an all new
Tigra ‘B’, and Tommy Maxwell in a 2010 spec completely refurbed
Peugeot 206cc.
All we can possibly say is that Newmarket High Street could be a great place to be on the Friday night with a plethora of racing talent ready to have a bit of a party! In fact don’t want to appear terribly forward but... Mr Maxwell (x 2), if your race cars were stabled here in England for the season!
Well done to #74 James O’Shea who set about qualifying for this years World Championships by racing in England, and indeed achieving his aim with qualification. Goodness knows jolly near everything has been thrown in his way to prevent him getting here at times, even a Europe wide Ash Cloud commercial flight ban didn’t stop him swimming the Irish Sea to make a world qualifier!!
Hot Rod Points
The latest points chart is available to view right now on the superb

And while we’re talking about the National Hot Rod website – may we place on

contributors for all their hard work at

The National Hot Rods return to the home of their World Final (3 & 4 July),
and a good day for James O’Shea #74 taking a podium in every one of his races; a
win in heat 1, 3rd in Heat 2, and a win in the final. Chris Haird #115 took a
5th and a 2nd in his heats and an 8th in the final.
SPECIAL MENTION must be made of
the fantastic Ipswich debut of #’99 Wayne Lee campaigning the 206cc formerly
piloted by Chris Haird. The front of a packed grid at Ipswich is not necessarily
the most sought after place to be for your first competitive outing at the
revered home of the World Championships, but some blistering starts and supreme
driving saw Wayne achieve a podium place for every race and a haul of points of
which he should be justly proud WELL DONE.

February 2010
The end of February is a busy time for Haird Motorsport...
The transporters will roll into Northampton International Raceway for a Haird
Motorsport Test Day on Friday 26 February.
Then it’s back to base before an early start on Saturday 27 February when during
the day Haird Motorsport supports the Liam Fairhurst Challenge 15 at Red Lodge
Karting. The event is an Endurance race of 2 hours on 270CC karts, to celebrate
what would have been Liam's 15th birthday weekend. Last time this event raised
some £15000 in one day for CLICSargent the charity that was so close to Liam's
heart.
More details on this event, and how you can support it can be found at:
www.redlodgekarting.com

From there the transporters get lit up once again down the A14 to the Foxhall
Heath Raceway near Ipswich for the official Spedeworth non-contact formula test
evening on Saturday 27 February which gets underway at 6pm.
